Man gets more than 3 years in prison after using fake checks to buy $30,000 of stamps in CNY

Syracuse, N.Y. — A Massachusetts man was sentenced Tuesday to more than three years in prison after using fraudulent checks at multiple Central New York post offices to buy more than $30,000 worth of postage stamps.
William Soto, 32, of Springfield, Mass., pleaded guilty this summer to 12 counts of theft of government property.
Soto bought the stamps on two days last summer from 12 different post offices in Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego counties.
